I’m Kara, YOYO-PopStar guardian in the morning and influencer-seeker at night. Part of my job is to make sure you get the latest and the freshest insider’s POV on what it feels like to be part of the family - the good, challenging, and everything in between!

Oh man, I remember my first day; there are no words to describe it. See, I came from a global Advertising-Creative agency, and it’s my first time working for a startup. Nothing, I repeat - nothing can ever prepare you for the startup energy: the enthusiasm, the openness and the willingness to help each other work on and achieve a shared goal. 🙌🏼

What a gift. What a collective passion. What a team!

By the time I hit my 1st week, I had collaborated with almost everyone on the team, met our Indonesia team via Google Hangouts (shoutout to Pop Digital!), unlocked a mystery room at Breakout with my teammates (high-five!) and had my first Win Session with them.

Nothing, I repeat - nothing can ever prepare you for the startup energy: the enthusiasm, the openness and the willingness to help each other work on and achieve a shared goal.

Win Sessions are where we celebrate our week’s milestones with a round of congratulations from each other + good (free!) food to enjoy - and that’s not even the best part yet. It’s when you see that every team member’s efforts are recognised and appreciated. We see value in every individual, every clock-in, every daily task report, and every earned registrations - just to name a few! If this is what’s waiting for me in the next few years, count me in! 🙋🏻

Sure, the workload piles up - sure, you have to file an OT (or a weekend work) at times. It’s not all rainbows, but the learning and growth you get from every pitch proposal, strategy, creative, engagement, dev, tech, design and client requests, outweigh the struggle. Forward, we grow!
